Today, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed a law supplementing Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which establishes liability for unauthorized dissemination of information (photo/video) during martial law.
The law provides for criminal liability for the following actions:
for dissemination of information on the direction, and transfer of international military assistance to Ukraine, if such information was not made publicly available by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, or without the written permission of the General Staff of the Armed Forces
forces of Ukraine for its dissemination, committed under martial law or state of emergency, –
imprisonment for a term of 3 to 5 years;
for disseminating information on the movement, movement, or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations of Ukraine, if such information was not made publicly available by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, or without obtaining written permission of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or state of emergency – imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years;
the above acts committed with the prior conspiracy of a group of persons, either for selfish motives or to provide such information to a State carrying out armed aggression against Ukraine or an illegal armed group or if they have caused serious consequences, –
shall be punishable by imprisonment for a term of 8 to 12 years.
The law will enter into force on the day following the day of its publication.
